T

he sequel to Marvel’s highly successful “Guardians of the Galaxy” dropped its first trailer on Thursday, featuring its original rag-tag crew of intergalactic superheroes.

Set to Blue Suede’s 1968 hit “Hooked on a Feeling,” the 1-minute-and 26-second clip showed action-packed scenes of chaos and destruction featuring Gamora (played by Zoe Saldana) jumping in the air with her deadly blade in tow, while her half-sister, the villainous Nebula (Karen Gillan), is seen with some new headgear.

Michael Rooker’s Fondu is also seen rocking a red mohawk while walking alongside everyone’s favorite anthropomorphic racoon, Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper).

The brief teaser did not reveal significant details regarding the film’s plot, but it looked like the film is bringing back its dry humor that fans enjoyed in the first movie.

Drax (Dave Bautista) and protagonist Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) shared a hilarious banter when the former advised Quill to pine for someone other than Gamora.

“There are two types of beings in the universe: Those who dance and those who do not,” he said.

“I get it, yes. I am a dancer, Gamora is not,” Star-Lord responded.

“You just need to find a woman who is pathetic like you,” Drax clarified, before forcing a bear hug on him. The teaser ends with an adorable shot of Rocket and miniature Groot (Vin Diesel) smiling.

Apart from video, Marvel also released the sequel’s official poster on social media.

Director James Gunn, meanwhile, clarified that  “the sneak peek just released is NOT a teaser-for-the-trailer; it’s a totally separate piece from the eventual trailer(s).”

He added that new cast members Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan and Kurt Russell would be seen in the coming trailers.

“Guardians of the Galaxy” was a surprise hit in 2014, earning tons of praise despite being based from a lesser-known comic title.

The sequel will invade cinemas on May 5, 2017.
