wenty-four-year-old Cailey Fiesel claims that she found the corpse of a dead rodent sewn into the lining of a new US$40 black dress that she had bought from Zara. To the New York Post, she said, “I froze, I was paralyzed with fear.”
A few weeks after purchasing the dress in July, the Manhattan-based woman caught whiff of a “disturbingly pungent odor” while at her work desk wearing the garment in question. Even after standing up and moving around, Cailey was “unable to escape the odor,” as charged by the Manhattan Supreme Court lawsuit.
She then felt something brush up her leg, thinking that it was string from the seam of the dress. However, what she discovered was a rodent's foot sticking out of the lining. She further recalls, “I was in complete shock. My eyes saw that it was a mouse but my brain told myself it can’t be."

According to her legal documents, it was alleged by her lawyers that she suffered emotional distress, as well as developed a huge rash that was diagnosed as a “rodent-born disease”. Thus, a lawsuit against Zara has been filed by Ms. Fiesel for an unspecified amount.
The New York Post reports that the Spanish fashion retailer has responded to this matter, as Zara's US spokesperson has said the company "is aware of the suit and we are investigating the matter further."
The spokesperson underlined Zara’s stringent and safety policies, saying that the company was “committed to ensuring that all of our products meet these rigorous requirements." (mra/kes)
