mid the increased popularity of electric vehicles, pioneered by Tesla and followed by Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz and Fisker, British car manufacturer Jaguar has unveiled a car concept that aims to challenge the Tesla Model X.

As reported by dailysocial.id, I-Pace will be equipped with two electric engines that amount to 395 horsepower and 700 newton-meters of torque via the “all-wheel” drive. The car will be able to accelerate to 100 km/hour in only four seconds with the 90kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

It is also capable of covering approximately 354 kilometers on one fully charged battery.

With its sleek design and slimmer outer body frame that exudes a sporty charm, Jaguar aims to further magnify the aerodynamic aspects of this vehicle, which begins with smoother door handles to produce minimum friction. The ventilating systems have also been revamped for cleaner air filtering.

On paper at least, the I-Pace may be able to outperform the Tesla Model X effortlessly. The overall exterior layout complements the interior design aesthetically. It also comes with a 12-inch touchscreen in the center dashboard from which users can access navigation features, and the secondary 5.5-inch screen below it provides entertainment and snippets of information such as weather and climate. On the steering wheel, users are able navigate through the controls connected to the two LED screens by only tapping them.

Jaguar design director Ian Callum told Top Gear that the I-Pace was a concept vehicle, and it was getting closer to the final version of the product. “We incorporated lots of aesthetical elements into the car, and although people may overlook them, the I-Pace is vastly different from our previous inventions.”

The company is planning to begin marketing the I-Pace around mid-2018. The price is estimated to be 10-15 percent higher than the Jaguar F-Pace. (fmn/kes)
