Indonesian jazz prodigy Joey Alexander has once again been nominated for a Grammy.

According to a recent announcement for the 59th Annual Grammy Awards, the 13-year-old was nominated in the Best Improvised Jazz category for Countdown, an album released in September.

Other nominees in the category include Ravi Coltrane's In Movement, Fred Hersch's We See, Brad Mehldau's I Concentrate on You and John Scofield's I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry, as reported by the Los Angeles Times.

Last year, in addition to the aforementioned category, Joey was also nominated for Best Jazz Instrumental Album. Although he did not bring any award home, his performance on the Grammy stage attracted global attention.

In 2015, Joey's first album, My Favorite Things, made the Billboard chart by ranking in 174th position, which is a first for an Indonesian musician. The album later re-entered the chart at the 59th position in January, Antara news agency reported. (kes)
