f you are keen on purchasing a slice of comic book movie history, you can begin to save up—because the actual Superman and Batman costumes are soon up for grabs.
On Jan. 26, the Superman and Batman costumes donned by the late Christopher Reeve and Michael Keaton, respectively, will be auctioned in Los Angeles.
Worn by Reeve in the 1978 Superman movie, the outfit, which has of a label reading "CHRISTOPHER REEVE / 12312 WITH MUSCLES / SUPERMAN", will have a minimum price tag of US$40,000.
The costume is made of stretchy nylon and has featured in scenes where Reeve acts out his incarnation of Superman.

The Batsuit will enter the auction with a minimum price of $35,000. It was worn by Keaton in the 1992 movie Batman Returns, which is a sequel to the 1989 Batman.
The Batsuit is displayed on a six-foot mannequin that looks like a statuesque embodiment of Keaton.
According to Newsweek, the Nate D. Sanders Auctions house clarified that “original parts of the costume worn in the film are the cowl, cape and body". Meanwhile, "the gloves, belt, insignia and shoes are replicas for the display”. (nik/kes)
