inger-songwriter Tulus performed keroncong music for the first time on Friday at the 2017 Java Jazz Festival (JJF) at JIExpo Kemayoran in Central Jakarta.
Kompas.com reported that he performed a duet with legendary keroncong singer Sundari Soekotjo, singing “Di Bawah Sinar Bulan Purnama” (Under the Moonlight) and “Teman Hidup” (Life Companion).
By all accounts, the performance was a smashing success.
"Thank you, Tulus, for bringing keroncong to this [festival]," said Sundari.

In addition to performing keroncong music, Tulus also presented a new album, Monokrom (Monochrome), at the festival.
“This is my third album, [which] I am performing [for the very first time] at Java Jazz,” he said, presenting the new tracks "Manusia Kuat” (Strong Men), “Tukar Jiwa” (Soul Exchange) and “Langit Abu-Abu” (Grey Sky).
The singer, whose full name is Muhammad Tulus, was first recognized after releasing his first album, Gajah (Elephant), in 2014. (jes/kes)
