Jakarta now has Instagram geosticker

nstagram continues to mirror Snapchat as Instagram Stories get another feature: geostickers. The first two cities to get city-wide and special neighborhood stickers are New York City and, surprisingly, Jakarta.
Jakarta users will be able to add stickers reflecting their current location onto their stories. According to TechCrunch, promotional pictures released by Snapchat feature not only stickers for the city, but also for landmarks, like the National Monument (Monas).
Instagram’s location-based illustrations are moveable, unlike the static filters on Snapchat. When users tap on the sticker, it will take them to Instagram’s location page for placement.

Jakarta already has geofilters on Snapchat, with filters for the city itself, neighborhoods, monuments and even schools and malls. Starting today, Jakarta users will be able to see Instagram’s geosticker selection matches up.
After this announcement, one of the only features that both Snapchat stories and Instagram stories do not share are Snapchat’s infamous augmented reality lenses. Despite the fact that Facebook acquired AR application MSQRD in 2015, there has been no news on whether or not this feature will be coming to Instagram anytime soon. (sul/kes)
