T

here is yet another Facebook feature on the way to help with travel. Called City Guides, it will provide user-curated suggestions for local restaurants and attractions, similar to TripAdvisor.

Currently out for select iOS and Android users, City Guides takes it one step further than TripAdvisor as you will be able to see all the cities and places that your friends have checked out, in typical Facebook fashion.

You can find the feature in the Explore tab of the app. From there, you will find a list of international cities that your friends have been to. Once you have selected a city, you can see which places your friends have been to, along with the weather and local time. You can even start to plan by saving upcoming events in that city to your personal calendar.

“We're testing a redesigned surface on city Pages that showcases information about your city," said a Facebook spokesperson to Mashable. "This content already exists on Facebook and during this test we'll be centralizing it in a way that is more personalized and relevant to you. So, this new feature can help people get a better sense of their city or a city they're planning to visit.”

There’s no announcement yet on when this feature will be rolled out to all users or if it will ever make it off the app and onto the website version of Facebook. (sul/kes)
