ali is set to host the Bali Blues Festival from May 26 to May 27 in Nusa Dua. It is the third year that Bali is playing host to the music festival.

Organized by the Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) and Pregina Art and Showbiz, the Bali Blues Festival will present 18 local and foreign performers, including Damned&Dirty from the Netherlands and Raw Earth from Singapore.

Among the highlight of this year’s festival is the performance of Krakatau Reunion, a collaboration of Indonesian musical maestros Trie Utami, Indra Lesmana, Dwiki Dharmawan, Gilang Ramadhan, Pra Budhi Dharma and Donnie Suhendra. Their performance will close the festival, during which they will hold a jam session with other musicians.

The festival also will present a collaboration between Indra Lesmana and Gugun Blues Shelter. Balawan ‘the magic guitarist’ will perform together with legendary drummer Gilang Ramadhan.

Some Balinese musicians that will perform include Northcross Road Singaraja, Brightsize Trio, Sound of Mine featuring Rio Sidik, The Bodhi, Crazy Horse, Ronaldgang, Dialog Dini Hari, as well as Bali Guitar Club and Ika and Soulbrother.

The three winners of the Sundown Blues Battle competition, including John and Jail Story, Sunburst and Souledout, will also take part

Festival founder Agung Bagus Mantra said this year’s festival was more special because it would be extended to two days. In the two previous years, the festival was only held over one day.

“We have extended the festival to two days to accommodate higher demands from musicians to perform in this event,” he said. (ebf)
