Is Fergie leaving The Black Eyed Peas to focus on her solo career?

This is the question on fans’ minds following the pop star’s resignation from Interscope Records, the company handling the American hip-hop group. She has partnered with music company BMG to create her own record label “Dutchess Music,” which will release her sophomore solo album entitled “Double Dutchess” this year, Variety reported.

Apparently, Fergie’s shift to full-fledged solo career didn’t sit well with the group’s remaining members Taboo (Jaime Luis Gomez), apl.de.ap (Allan Pineda Lindo Jr.) and will.i.am (William James Adams).

On Tuesday, Taboo tweeted a vintage photo of the original members of The Black Eyed Peas: him, will.i.am and Filipino-American apl.de.ap.

Netizens also noticed that Taboo had unfollowed Fergie but followed her again on the social networking site. Meanwhile, will.i.am posted cryptic images of the original Black Eyed Peas trio on Instagram, creating speculation that Fergie might have left the band for good. His captions, such as “All that we are. All that we’re made of,” “Go back. Throwback. Future Cast” and “Hear no evil. See no evil. Speak no evil,” raised eyebrows among their longtime fans.

The Filipino-American rapper, who previously sat as judge of “The Voice Philippines,” also posted sample clips of him with the two male members.

Apl.de.ap, will.i.am and Taboo formed The Black Eyed Peas until Fergie joined the band as its muse in 2003.

When The Black Eyed Peas went on a hiatus, Fergie released her debut solo album, “The Dutchess,” in 2006, which spawned chart-topping hits such as “Fergalicious,” “Clumsy” and “Big Girls Don’t Cry.”
