ecent wholesalers data released by the Association of Indonesian Automotive Manufacturers (Gaikindo) shows that there were 94,123 cars sold in Indonesia in May 2017, which marks an increase from the 89,587 cars sold in the previous month.

According to kompas.com, one of the possible contributing factors to the increase of sales is the many promotions available nearing Idul Fitri or the mudik (exodus) season.

The data from Gaikindo also shows that the low multi-purpose vehicle (LMPV) segment still tops the sales list, followed by low-cost green car (LCGC), low sports utility vehicle (LSUV) and pick-up cars.

Although it saw a decrease compared to the sales figures in April, the Toyota Avanza remains the most sought-after vehicle with 8,865 units sold in May, followed by the Toyota Kijang Innova (5,651) and the LCGC Calya (5,317).
