The announcement comes soon after Sheeran received mixed reviews from fans of Game of Thrones for his appearance on the show's highly anticipated season-seven premiere the previous day.

Sheeran, who quit Twitter within 24 hours following his brief appearance on the popular HBO show, took to his Instagram account to announce his new role in the cult animated show.

According to a report from Mashable, the singer-turned-actor will voice a character named Brandon in a musical-themed episode of the animated Fox comedy titled “Haw-Haw Land”, a clear nod to the movie-musical La La Land

Sheeran will reportedly be involved in a love triangle with Lisa Simpson and Nelson Muntz in the show, which is set to return for its 29th season on Oct. 1. (liz/kes)
