he Ubud Writers & Readers Festival (UWRF), which returns on Oct. 25-Oct. 29, is to feature the French-Indonesian director of Despicable Me as a speaker in its main program, as reported by kompas.com on Monday.
Themed “Origins”, the annual literary festival will feature around 160 literary and arts figures from 30 different countries to share their journeys, ideas and inspirations in 72 discussions at three venues in Ubud, Bali: Taman Baca, Indus Restaurant and the Neka Art Museum.
Director and animator Pierre Coffin, who directed Despicable Me, is set to appear on Oct. 29 and will share behind-the-scenes stories of his career.

Coffin’s mother, Indonesian writer Nurhayati Srihardini Siti Nukatin, also known as NH Dini, is scheduled to share her experiences on the first day of the festival.
UWRF 2017 will also feature prominent writers such as mystical poet Sutardji Calzoum Bachri, journalist Seno Gumira Ajidarma and Northern Irish author Paul McVeigh.
Along with authors' discussions, the 14th edition of the Ubud literary festival will present children's workshops, special events, film screenings, poetry readings, musical performances and many other activities. (jes/asw)
