Facebook-owned messaging application WhatsApp announced its new “Share Live Location” feature on Tuesday.
Designed to help users share their location in real time, the feature will roll out in the coming weeks on both Android and iOS devices.
“Whether you’re meeting up with friends, letting loved ones know you’re safe or sharing your commute, Live Location is a simple and secure way to let people know where you are,” the company wrote on its official blog.

Those wanting to use the end-to-end encrypted feature simply need to open an individual or group chat and tap on the attach icon and then "Location." In the menu, they will find the new “Share Live Location” option.
Prior to sending, users can choose durations for the location sharing to last. Once they tap the send icon, the recipient(s) in the chat will be able to see the user’s real-time location on a map.
Furthermore, if more than one user shares their Live Location in the group, the company said all the locations would be visible on the same map. (kes)
