Cicil wins at Indonesia Rice Bowl Startup Awards

Cicil, a fintech startup that allows students to purchase items in installments without a credit card, was named the winner in two categories, Startup of the Year and Best Fintech, at the 2017 Indonesia Rice Bowl Startup Awards.

icil, a fintech startup that allows students to purchase items in installments without a credit card, was named the winner in two categories, Startup of the Year and Best Fintech, at the 2017 Indonesia Rice Bowl Startup Awards.

Announced on Monday, the event also revealed the winners in seven other categories: Mallsampah founder Adi Saifullah Putra as Founder of the Year; Eragano as Best Newcomer; Mallsampah as Best Social Impact startup; Sticar as Best Smart City Solution; Klikhoreka as Best E-commerce/Supply Chain; DOOgether as Best Healthy Lifestyle startup; and Hubud as Best Coworking Space.

The Rice Bowl Startup Awards is a series of events held throughout ASEAN countries. In Indonesia, the event was hosted by 2Blive, a live-stream mobile application that focuses on wholesome and educational content through strategic partnerships.

Last year, the awards named virtual private assistant service company YesBoss as the Best Newcomer startup.

2Blive founder Gerard Teoh told The Jakarta Post that a representative of each winner would be flown to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to attend the 2017 ASEAN Rice Bowl Startup Awards, which is slated to run on Dec. 12 to 13.

Teoh said that Indonesian startups should have opportunities to work with other regional companies. During the regional event, the winners will have the opportunity to network and to meet investors. (asw)
