View all search resultsCutural center Bentara Budaya Bali screened four films that were adapted from literary works.
Held for two days from Jan. 20 to 21 in Ketewel, Gianyar regency, the event was named Sinema Bentara (Bentara Cinema) with “Cerita Sastra Dalam Film Kita” (Literature Story in Our Film) as its theme.
The movies that were played during the event were Asrul Sani's 1972 film Salah Asuhan (Wrong Upbringing), Benni Setiawan’s 2013 film Madre, Indian film Balyakalaskhi, directed by Pramod Payyannur and Italian film Miracle in Milan, helmed by Vittorio de Sica.

Vanesa Martida, program assistant of Sinema Bentara, told Antara that the screening was designed as if the audiences were back in the 1980s, with the concept of misbar (gerimis bubar, or open-air cinema).
“Our Sinema Bentara is in line with the main theme of Bentara Budaya 2018,” she said. “We’re trying to focus on the results of collaborations across fields and media.” (wir/asw)
