T

hemed "The Ocean of White," the first local edition of indoor electronic dance music (EDM) festival Sensation, held at ICE BSD City in Tangerang, Banten on Saturday night, welcomed partygoers with a unique underwater ambiance.

Upon arriving at the venue, visitors were greeted by giant jellyfish with glowing lights as tentacles floating above. The center of the venue, meanwhile, was a revolving round stage.

In line with the festival’s theme, more than 10 water fountains came to life during certain tracks. Light shows and pyrotechnic effects enlivened the evening as dancers on the extended stage blew bubbles and directed smoke guns at passing visitors.

Sensation’s resident DJ, Mr. White, opened the festival to set the party mood that night, and by the time DJ duo Lucas and Steve took the stage, the crowd had nearly doubled.

The show continued with DJ Ummet Ozcan, DJ Quintino and DJ brothers Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike. The festival’s host, MC Gee, did his bit to further elevate the atmosphere.

Similar to Sensation festivals in other countries, visitors were required to wear all-white. The dress code pays tribute to Miles Stutterheim, the younger brother of Sensation founder Duncan Stutterheim, who passed away in a car accident after the first Sensation event.

The event is scheduled to entertain EDM enthusiasts in other countries in the coming months, including Brazil on March 31 and April 7, the Czech Republic on June 23, Thailand on July 29 and Singapore on Sept. 1. (kes)
