uxury car brand Bentley on Thursday launched its newest version of the Continental GT in the Indonesian market, a third generation of the grand tourer design that was first introduced by the British manufacturer in 2003.

Roland Staehler, chief operating officer of Bentley Jakarta, told the press at an unveiling in Jakarta that the dynamics of the latest car takes it to the next level from the established revolutionary engineering delivered in the previous versions of the Continental line.

The design, Staehler added, delivers an evolution from the second generation that was launched in 2010.

"The car looks modern and sleeker. It looks bolder and sportier, lower and so on, without compromising on comfort. There's no compromising on comfort," Staehler said.

He further pointed to the car's latest technology as the highlight for enthusiasts, noting that the dual-clutch and engine performance, which boasts 330 kilometers top speed, would be enjoyed with the luxury design of the vehicle.

The new Continental GT features an enhanced version of Bentley's 6.0-liter, twin-turbocharged W12 TSI engine that is paired with a dual-clutch eight-speed transmission to deliver faster and more efficient gear changes. The engine is also positioned further back to improve the car's weight distribution.

Boasting a signature and recognizable Bentley Continental GT muscular exterior design, the interior offers four seats, improved luggage capacity and a fully digital, driver-focused instrument panel.

It also has a new, technically advanced adaptive chassis, which uses Bentley's 48-volt Dynamic Ride System to ensure a smooth driving experience.

Set to be made available in June, the retail price of the new Continental GT is estimated to start at Rp 8.888 billion (US$650,601), depending on the customization.

"We are thrilled to introduce this extraordinary car, as part of our existing Bentley model range, to our clients in the Indonesian market," said Dhani Yahya, Bentley Jakarta's brand director. (kes)
