ight Indonesian designers have created limited edition collections in collaboration with popular children's entertainment franchise My Little Pony.
Among the local brands involved are Chameo Couture, Bateeq, Lenny Agustin, Oline Workrobe, Ria Miranda, Origo by Phia, Miwa Yellow Line and Niluh Djelantik.
Indonesia became the first Southeast Asian country for the collaboration with the US-based brand Hasbro, which owns the animation works and line of toys, in creating accessories and clothing for both children and adults under a theme of “Friendship”.
Speaking on behalf of the designers, Chameo Couture creative director Lim Masulim said My Little Pony's "Friendship is Magic" tagline was translated in each item through playful prints and colors.
As inspired by the theme, he went on, the collection also reflected a positive message of friendship and acceptance.
"Indonesia upholds Bhinneka Tunggal Ika, which means unity in diversity. In each creation, each designer throughout the process of creativity ensured to translate the meaning of friendship in line with these Indonesian values as well," Lim said during a recent press conference in Jakarta.

In creating woven handbags for the collection, Chameo Couture also integrated environmentally friendly elements, such as recyclable plastic, Lim added.
Among others, Bateeq stayed true to form and utilized batik motifs, including Javanese inspired prints such as kawung, nitik rengganis and grinsing-alga.
The limited collection can be found at My Little Pony's pop up store in Plaza Indonesia, as well as e-commerce platforms of each respective label.
Indonesia remains one of Hasbro's main markets in Asia-Pacific. The fashion collection aims to further increase the brand's presence in Indonesia, after more than 10 years in the country.
"Storytelling is always an important part of everything we do in Hasbro, and we are very happy to have a unique opportunity to tell the story of 'My Little Pony' through the collaboration with Indonesia's best designers," said Melissa Alexander, Hasbro Southeast Asia/Pacific licensing director.
