T

he Jakarta Arts Council (DKJ) is currently hosting the annual Sayembara Novel (Novel Writing Contest) DKJ in a bid to promote local writers with quality stories.

The official announcement mentions that the contest is only open to local aspiring novelists; hence, participants need to submit a copy of their identification card.

Those who want to join the contest need to submit four copies of their stories before July 31.

Participants can send more than one story as long as the works have never been published before.

The novel should be an original story written in Indonesian with a length between 40,000 and 100,000 words.

The winners will be announced during the Malam Anugerah Sayembara Novel DKJ 2018 ceremony in Taman Ismail Marzuki, Central Jakarta, in November, where the first prize winner will be entitled to Rp 20,000,000 (US$1,452). (jes/kes)
