nstagram has released a new feature that will allow you to video chat with up to three friends through Instagram Direct while still being able to scroll through your feed.

Originally announced by Mark Zuckerberg at his keynote during F8 back in May, the feature is now being rolled out to both iOS and Android devices.

“People use live video to just hang out,” said Zuckerberg during the keynote. “It’s amazing how many of these tools are about bringing us together.”

Users will be able to join Instagram calls in progress through the video call button found in direct messages, while users you’ve blocked won’t be able to video call you.

In addition to video chatting, new features Instagram announced at F8 include an enhanced Explore page, where users can explore a variety of topic channels, as well as new camera effects and filters designed by partners, such as Ariana Grande, BuzzFeed, Liz Koshy and the NBA.

While these new additions to Instagram might keep users on for longer, the app is also releasing a Usage Insights tool that will allow users to set a daily time limit to alert them when they’ve spent too much time on the app. (sul/kes)
