A

pple is reportedly making a big upgrade to its headphone products, with rumors the company plans to release a new version of its wireless AirPod headphones, which are both waterproof and have noise cancellation technology, by 2019.

Bloomberg has also reported that the new wireless headphones will come with an over-ear model that is "studio quality" — according to people familiar with the matter.

Apple has announced that it will be working with Tymphany, a Primax electronics subsidiary, for the over-ear airpods. The company helps make consumer and professional audio systems, although it is not finalized and production has yet to begin.

Aside from the new AirPods, Apple will reportedly also release a new wireless chip that can support hands-free Siri activation and a new case for the earbuds with a wireless charging mat, rumored to be released sometime this year. (ely/wng)
