An octopus culinary festival in Bengkulu has made waves as the first and largest of its kind in the nation.
he octopus satay festival held on Sunday in the Kaur district of Bengkulu has been entered into the Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI) as the biggest octopus culinary festival, kompas.com has reported.
MURI manager Andre Purwandano said the festival was the first of its kind. “It might even be the first one in the world,” he said.

The festival initially hoped to to set a national record by preparing 5,000 skewers of octopus satay, but it surpassed its target and produced 6,011 skewers.
Kaur Regent Gusril Pausi said the seas in the district was home to a large population of octopus. Dishes made with octopus, especially octopus satay and fried rice with octopus ink, are favorites among visitors to Kaur.
The octopus satay festival was held in conjunction with the 25th National Family Day and to promote the local tourism programs, Visit Bengkulu and Wonderful Bengkulu 2020. (anm/wng)
