Cropped higher than its typical jeans, Levi’s Hi-Ball Roll jeans comes with a 2-inch pre-rolled cuff for pairing with sneakers to meet the current trend.
earing sneakers with jogging pants and cropped trousers – pants that bring attention to the feet – is a growing trend that has marked a decrease in denim sales, particularly for high-end brands that have been suffering slumping sales for years, as The Washington Post reported.
In the same article, however, the Post cited moderately priced jeans brand Levi’s as maintaining its popularity among male consumers. Quartz at Work has supported Levi’s consumer standing, pointing out that Levi’s recorded its highest sales in a decade in 2017 and accelerated sales in the first quarter of 2018.
However, Quartz also quoted Levi’s CEO Chip Bergh, who said that sales of men’s pants fell, which prompted the brand to fight back by designing sneaker-friendly jeans.
A GQ report earlier this month said that Levi’s had rolled out its “Hi-Ball Roll Jeans”, said to be slimmer and cropped higher than typical Levi’s. It also comes with a 2-inch (5-centimeter) pre-rolled cuff for added comfort to encourage men to pair their jeans with their usual sneakers. GQ wrote that the new Hi-Ball Rolls were a direct response to the exploding sneaker market, now valued at US$19.6 billion.
Levi’s also claimed that its new jeans was “created with today’s sneakerhead culture in mind, our Hi-Ball Roll Jeans provide the perfect canvas for showing off your favorite shoes” in a blog post.

For a majority of consumers, the top or pants don't matter, as long as they can be paired with ace kicks, and Levi’s Hi-Ball Rolls simply offers jeans that pairs perfectly with sneakers.
The silhouette of the new Levi’s jeans shares some similarities with the products of sports-inspired labels. For instance, one version of the jeans has side seams running down the leg with the Levi’s logo, which resembles a pair of track pants. This could be intentional on the company’s part to emphasize that jeans can be just as stylish and comfortable as sneaker-friendly pants.
The Hi-Ball Roll Jeans are available online and in retails for $89.50. (saz/mut)
