atam Haj Embarkation Center have postponed the departure of a haj flight after a Saudia Airlines aircraft experience a hydraulic system fault.

The BTH 5 haj flight group, of 442 pilgrims from Kampar and Siak regencies in Riau, was scheduled to take off on Monday at 9:40 a.m, with the flight since delayed to Tuesday at 3:15 p.m.

Riau Islands regional office chief of the Haj and Umrah Ministry, Muhammad Syafi’i, said the delay had been caused by probelms to the aircraft hydraulic system while it had been on standby at Batam’s Hang Nadim International Airport.

“The aircraft was ready, and all luggage had been loaded. When the engines were turned on, there were hydraulic problems, and it had to be fixed,” he said on Tuesday afternoon.

“The equipment had to be brought from outside and the aircraft was replaced.”

Syafi’i said the ministry had coordinated with Saudia, the ministry’s secretariat general and the haj directorate general to facilitate aircraft replacement.
