Creative community Bujang Rimba produces artworks based on Indonesian pop culture.
Creative community Bujang Rimba, which is almost two years old, has generated a number of productions filled with positive notes.
Adri Imad Kadifa, one of the founders, said they were inspired by the possibilities of pop culture in Indonesia.
With 10 active members in the collective, Bujang Rimba creates illustrations, videos, films, typography and music.
“We bring vernacular accents into our work, from the typography of pecel lele (fried catfish) at street-side shops and on the back of trucks to retro clothing,” Adri told kompas.com in Jakarta on Wednesday.

“We combine them with current issues, with humor or satire as the thread,” he added.
One of their videos is titled Humble Afternoon, with a message that says traveling doesn’t necessarily have to be costly.
Recently, they created short videos inspired by Wiro Sableng.
“We proposed a different approach, in a more comedic style. In the video, Wiro will hand out a sort of medicine to enhance one’s appeal,” said Adri. Cooperating with local payment gateway Doku, the videos are meant to entertain and they offer discounts to viewers as well. (wng)
