U

nited States singer Mariah Carey arrived in Yogyakarta on Sunday for her concert, to be held on Tuesday evening in the Borobudur Temple complex in neighboring Magelang regency, Central Java.

Traveling with family members, Carey landed at Adisutjipto International Airport in her private jet at 1:20 a.m.

“She is very happy and excited to perform at one of the world’s heritage sites,” said Bakkar Wibowo, the event’s creative director, in a press release made available to The Jakarta Post on Sunday.

"HIMBARA Borobudur Symphony 2018 – Mariah Carey Live in Concert" is part of the “BUMN Hadir Untuk Negeri” (State Enterprises Present for the Nation) program, conducted to promote Indonesian tourist businesses, especially those managed by state enterprises.

For this year, the event is promoted by state-owned PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko with Rajawali Indonesia Communication as the consultant.

Rajawali Indonesia Communication CEO Anas Syahrul Alimi said preparations for the event were well in hand. “Since last week, the production team has been deployed to the venue for the preparations,” he said.

PT Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan & Ratu Boko director of finance, HR and investment Palwoto said the concert tickets were almost sold out. “Indonesians and people from neighboring countries are very eager to watch the show,” he said. (wng)
