oosting the number of events in Indonesian cities can help increase the local creative industries and tourism, according to Rama Adrian, the consumer solutions vice president of an event and entertainment technology provider company, LOKET.
Medan, for instance, has much potential for tourism as the archipelago's third biggest city, especially since the local administration continues to develop its infrastructure and promote Batak culture as a tourist attraction.
"LOKET wants to help maximize this potential by inviting creative communities and individuals in Medan to create interesting events to lure more domestic and foreign tourists to the region," said Rama in a statement, adding that such events could then boost the growth of other economic sectors, like accommodations, foods and beverages and official merchandise.

"The key is simplicity and technology, either in creating or running an event," said Rama. "We believe that technology belongs to everyone and anyone can obtain the experience of running the best event through technology, regardless of the scale of the event."
The Loket.com platform boasts a self-service concept that can help event creators run their events independently.
"Our targets are communities and individuals, especially creative millennials who have a high adaptation level for technology and a limited time to manage their own events, such as promotions and ticket sales," said Loket.com marketing manager Jojo Trijoko, adding that the platform also boasts more than 10 affiliated partners, including Go-Tix and integrated payment features like Go-Pay.
"Hopefully, this platform can help foster new event creators and improve the local economy, as well as the social life of Medan's people through positive activities," said Rama. (ayr/kes)
