The 10 best works of the 80 submitted were displayed in Batu City Hall, East Java, from June 24 to 27. The exhibition was held in Jakarta from May 27 to June 20.
The head competition’s committee, Mufti Makarimal Ahlaq, said the event aimed at developing a wider network outside the academic community, particularly artists.
A number of artists created for the exhibition pieces that highlight human rights, such as Seno Gumira Ajidarma and Dolorosa Sinaga, who also serve as jury members for the competition.
"In addition, we held the competition because after it was socialized, many artists wanted to express the issue of human rights through their works of art," Mufti said.
He added that the entire event was part of a revitalization project for the Omah Munir Museum of Human Rights.

One of the museum visitors, Bella Citra Kusumaningsari, said the exhibition presented the issue of human rights through art in a quite welcoming manner.
"If appreciated, different meanings related to human rights can be taken from this art exhibition," said the citizenship education teacher at SMAN 9 state high school in Malang, East Java.
One of the pieces she admired most is by Dessy Wahyuni from Jakarta, titled Perjuangkan, Tumbuh dan Berkembang (Fight for It, Grow and Develop).
"This unique work completely depicts the rights we must strive for," she said.
