Fendi's signature duality defines its 2019 pre-fall collection, which features rigorous, sharp silhouettes that are softened by rich tone combinations of red and beige, icy grays and blues and intense green shades.
In the collection are slightly elongated blazers with asymmetric lapels and sporty belts matched with midi plissé skirts or wide-legged cropped pants.
The brand’s creative director, Silvia Venturini Fendi, kept up the tradition of authentic tailoring made famous by the late creative director Karl Lagerfeld. The collection shows influences of 19th century French gates and vintage Japanese men’s kimono motifs.
"Intarsia", a knitting technique involving patterns with multiple colors and a woodworking technique, is shown on power coats, alluding to the graphics of antique gates. The graphics themselves are also rendered as jacquard motifs on knitted dresses that cling to the skin.
A wide range of materials also forms the whole collection, including technical jersey, lace, silk, high-end nylon, kid mohair and leather, resulting in an array of items from fluffy knitwear and mink fur bombers to utilitarian coats.
Furthermore, fans of Fendi's signature handbags such as the Baguette and Peekaboo can find a new unlined “Selleria” leather version that has neon hues inside, while the Peekaboo X-Lite is chic and lightweight, using a wide selection of materials. (vit/mut)
