ZAP, one of the leading beauty clinics in Indonesia, established male grooming clinic Men/o/logy on Thursday at Kota Kasablanka Mall in South Jakarta.

Said to be the country’s first grooming clinic for men, Men/o/logy highlights the fact that men deserve to get pampered as well. The clinic is the result of a collaboration between ZAP CEO Fadly, dermatologist Endi Novianto, singer and plastic surgeon Teuku “Tompi” Adifitrian and musician Bambang “Bams” Reguna Bukit.

“Perhaps the market isn’t as big as the women's market, but they exist. So why don’t we cater to them?” said Bams during a press conference on Thursday in South Jakarta.

At the same time, Fadly is confident that male grooming clinics will be the next trend. “Barber shops can be found everywhere nowadays, perhaps two or three years ahead [male grooming clinics] will become popular,” said Fadly.

Men/o/logy provides various treatments, including an active acne laser, infuse booster, tattoo removal with laser, Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) hair regrowth and PRP face. Treatments cost from Rp 299,000 ($21.28) for active acne laser treatment and Rp 1 million for PRP hair regrowth.

Dermatologist Endi Novianto said men mostly had specific problems, and among the most frequent were hair loss, acne and acne scars. The grooming clinic offers laser treatment for acne, using tools that are imported from Europe. The laser will eliminate acne-causing bacteria as well as reduce the inflammation.

PRP hair regrowth uses customers’ concentrated thrombocytes to prevent and treat hair loss. “We’ll draw around 15 to 12 milliliters of blood from our customers and we’ll extract them to get the concentrated thrombocytes,” said Endi. “The treatment will prevent hair from falling and even cells from dying.”

Following the treatment, new hair will grow in about two weeks and the overall outcome is said to be visible in about two to four months.

When it comes to acne scars, people may try the clinic’s laser treatment, chemical peeling or PRP Face. They use a special injector that will precisely reach the selected part of the skin with less pain.

The clinic targets, but is not limited to, men aged 30-40 years.

"We can cater to people of any age [as long as] the problems are common," said Tompi. (mut)
