he Indonesian Children Visual Art Festival, an art exhibition for children, is currently being held at the National Gallery of Indonesia in Jakarta for one month from July 23 to Aug. 23.
The festival, which is titled “MAIN” (play), includes an exhibition, film screenings, workshops, games and storytelling. All of the activities are related to science, the environment and motivation and are designed for children.
“Through the Indonesian Children Visual Art Festival, the National Gallery of Indonesia will be a conducive home for children to play, learn and create,” head of the National Gallery Puspanto said as quoted by kompas.com.
The exhibition showcases 74 selected works made by Indonesian children from 376 artworks sent in through an open submission. It also displays a number of artworks that have won national competitions and passed curatorial considerations.

Meanwhile, the workshops allow children to create cardboard puppets, color story books, bind books and much more.
There are also games that encourage children to play with leaves, as well as German board games and traditional Japanese games.
The National Gallery of Indonesia is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10.00 to 19.00. The timetable for the exhibition and film screenings can be found on the official Instagram account @galerinasional. (gis/mut)
