The deluge of romance across various forms of media makes it feel like marriage and children are the ultimate goals.

Those who have experience with romance can surely attest to the rocky road to everlasting love, with U-turns and alternative routes that appear along the way.

Twivortiare comes in as a breath of fresh air to all this, tackling the side of love many prefer to shove under the rug: the fights, the arguments and what happens when the sparks go away.

Adapted from the 2012 Ika Natassa novel of the same name, Twivortiare follows the life of eternally busy surgeon Beno (Reza Rahadian) and professional banker Alexandra (Raihaanun), from their chance meeting at a party to their eventual divorce.

And no, that’s not a spoiler. The divorce bombshell happens in the opening scene, setting the tone for the story.

The couple’s professions leave them with almost no time for each other, which might sound like a natural consequence to having a job that takes up most of your life.
