ndonesian rapper Iwa K in collaboration with the Sweet Martabak duo gave an electric performance on the first day of Hodgepodge Superfest 2019 on Saturday.

"Ada Sumur di Ladang" was the first song, showcasing Sweet Martabak's craft in combining dynamic hip hop beats with traditional Sundanese melodies. The group followed with their hits "Tididit" and "Cewek Matre".

Iwa appeared on stage with the fourth song "Deb's File". "We have to be happy here, so let's go all out!" he said to the audience.

Both Iwa and Sweet Martabak grew popular in the mid-1990s, with the rising popularity of rap and hip hop in the mainstream scene.

The duo had said that they had retired from music, though occasionally they still appear at music festivals, while Iwa continues to perform.

On Saturday evening, the audience danced and sang along to the songs, including "Bebas" and "Malam Ini Indah" as the finale.

"Thank you for Hodgepodge and everyone here tonight. With music, we have no boundaries!" Iwa said.

Day two of Hodgepodge Superfest 2019 on Sunday will feature American supergroup Prophets of Rage, rock band State Champs and English indie pop band Superorganism. (wng)
