The front man of the iconic 1990s band, Billy Corgan has announced that a double album could be released this year.
Two years after the release of their last album, Shiny and Oh So Bright, Vol.1/ LP: No Past. No Future. No Sun, the Chicago band is planning to bring out a new opus, if Billy Corgan is to be believed.
The band reformed with its original members, James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin, on the occasion of its most recent project.
Corgan has reportedly said that 21 tracks are ready and will feature on a double album to be recorded in Nashville. The new record is expected to be released before the end of the year.
In the columns of the Tennessean, Corgan declared that it would be the first "'Let's throw it all at the wall and see what happens' type of Pumpkins record" since the band reunited.
Speaking of the band's most recent disk, the singer remarked that it was recorded "real fast". However, he claimed that with the forthcoming record, the band would be "back in the lane of taking a risk, and trying to bring something new to the table, as opposed to just aping what we're known for".
The latest news has also been confirmed by an Instagram post to the effect that the band would shortly be bringing out some new tracks.
