The collaboration stems from the two companies’ shared mission of introducing Indonesian commodities to the world and boosting local farmers’ incomes.

“Alongside quality, fair trade practice and policy are also very important for Kopi Kenangan in terms of choosing suppliers or partners,” Edward Tirtanata, CEO and cofounder of Kopi Kenangan, said in a statement.

“Indonesia is incredibly rich in its plant varieties, including chocolate and coffee, but they tend to be overlooked by consumers in the country,” Tissa Aunilla, cofounder of Pipiltin Cocoa, said.

The special beverages offered in this collaboration are 100% Chocolate, Hazelnut Chocolate, Banana Chocolate, Salted Caramel Chocolate and Mocha Latte.

Kopi Kenangan claims that the chain utilizes around 32 tons of local green coffee beans per month sourced from various places in Indonesia, such as Aceh, North Sumatra, West Java and Flores.

Meanwhile, Pipiltin Cocoa uses chocolate beans sourced from farmers in Aceh, Bali, Flores, West Papua and East Java.

"Sustainability is always our focus in creating a business to develop social, economic and environmental potential. We hope the collaboration will bring the spotlight on the importance of sustainability and give a push to customers to consume local products," said Tissa. (gis/wng)
