‘I just fit the profile’: Gofar Hilman denies sexual misconduct allegations in new video

ouTube personality Gofar Hilman posted a video on his Instagram account on Friday denying sexual harassment allegations against him that have been circulating on social media since early June.
“I don’t do those things, and I can be held accountable for what I say,” he said in the video.
On June 8, a Twitter post by a woman with the username @quweenjojo alleged that Gofar had groped her at a party where he was a celebrity guest. The user claimed the incident happened in 2018 in Malang, East Java, and that a cheering crowd of men had seen the incident. She said another person took her aside to keep her safe from Gofar and his group.
In the video, Gofar said he and his team had been investigating the case since the Twitter post went viral.
“We have made all kinds of efforts, [such as] looking for the photos, videos, witness testimony, but none of them show that I did what was alleged,” he said.
He claimed he had been framed just because of the persona he had built.
“I thought, is it because of my appearance? Because of the way I speak? Because of how I interact with people? So that people think that I must have done this [harassing women],” he said. “Because I fit the profile. The stereotype of a sexual harasser fits perfectly with me.”
Gofar is known for talking openly about his promiscuous sex life in his public appearances and interviews, including on his own YouTube channel and tweets. He has openly said that he has had sex with hundreds of women and "reviewed" some their performances in bed. With more than 1 million subscribers on YouTube and 700,000 followers on Twitter, Gofar is one of the most recognizable influencers in Indonesia today, but his detractors have called out his hard-partying persona as misogynistic and reliant on the objectification of women.
The Jakarta chapter of Legal Aid Foundation of the Indonesian Women’s Association for Justice (LBH APIK) said they had received reports from at least eight women claiming to have been harassed by Gofar.
In collaboration with Southeast Asia Freedom of Expression Network (SAFEnet), LBH Apik has created a hotline to accommodate other people who feel that they have been sexually violated by the YouTube star.
