angdut star Saipul Jamil, who was released from prison on Sept. 2 after serving a reduced sentence for a 2017 child molestation conviction, has since been receiving calls from various TV stations, family and friends welcoming his return like a king.

Long-time friend Firman said the singer would start shooting a TV program today, the day immediately following his release.

“Thank you to private TV stations for believing in Saipul,” Firman told Voice of Indonesia (VOI) on Thursday, while the national radio station posted news coverage on Saipul on its official voidotid YouTube channel.

Saipul's brother Muhammad Soleh said that many parties had been courting Saipul ahead of his release with job offers in the entertainment industry, especially TV stations.

"If the leak from the [production] manager is true, there was already a name [for the TV show]. He was even offered five programs in one day," Soleh said on Aug. 25, as quoted by Detik.com.

He emphasized, however, that Saipul might not accept all offers.

Saipul is also set to return to the music industry with a new song, produced by music label MSI to coincide with the signer’s release from the Class 1 Cipinang Penitentiary in East Jakarta on Thursday, after he was granted a 30-month remission from a combined sentence of eight years from two separate cases.

"[Saipul served] around five years and seven months," said Cipinang Penitentiary head Tony Nainggolan, as quoted by Kompas.com on Sept. 2.

Tony made assurances that Saipul had changed significantly during his time at Cipinang, where he participated in several prison-sponsored programs.

Saipul was named the suspect of an obscenity case on Feb. 18, 2016 after he was caught molesting a 17-year-old boy. Following his confession, the singer was convicted and sentenced to three years in prison in July 2017. On his appeal to the Jakarta High Court, the judicial panel increased his sentence to five years.

He was sentenced to an additional three years in prison in a separate case, which found him guilty of offering a Rp 50 million bribe to Rohadi, a clerk at the North Jakarta District Court.
