JAKARTA: A faulty drainage system caused a 70-centimeter-high flood on Jl. Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta, after hours of hard rain Tuesday, Detik.com reported Tuesday.
The water created a one-kilometer stretch of heavy traffic on the street and affected traffic on nearby streets like Jl. TB Simatupang and Jl. Raya Pasar Minggu.
A mini sedan stalled in the street as water reached above its bumper.
A motorcycle taxi driver Dedi said the congestion always occurred along the street in heavy rain.
"It may take two hours until all the water drains from the street," he said. - JP
