JAKARTA: Pop singer Rossa has a confession to make: She’s very nervous about her first solo concert in Malaysia.

Claiming the “Melodi Cinta” (the Love Melody) would be the biggest solo concert held by an Indonesian singer in Malaysia, Rossa said she would perform in front of thousands of people on May 29 in Kuala Lumpur.

“I might be ready physically, but not mentally,” she said Tuesday at a press conference. “Holding a concert for me means suffering from stomach ache, headache and high tension,” she laughed.

Rossa is a planning an extraordinary concert, saying she will bring along Indonesian bands Ungu and ST12, as well as share the stage with Malaysian singer Aziat.

“Around 52 musicians – most are from Indonesia – will be involved in the concert,” said the ex-wife of group band Padi’s drummer Yoyo.

Working with noted composer Yovie Widiyanto, Rossa said she’s embracing a unique type of performance – combining acoustic and orchestra styles.

“I’ll invite around 60 [Malaysian] children aged under 12 [to sing] with me. They all will be part of my choir,” she said, adding the idea was inspired by her only son. “I want their parents to be proud of them, just the way I’m proud of seeing my son [performing] before his friends.” —JP
