AKARTA: Bank Permata will take over PT General Electric Finance Indonesia (GEFI), the Indonesian unit of the United States-based General Electric Capital International Holdings Corporation as part of its expansion in the country’s financial sector.
Bank Permata’s president director David Fletcher said in Jakarta on Wednesday the bank had signed an agreement to purchase 100 percent of PT GEFI from the American financing company.
The takeover is subject to the approval of Indonesian central bank Bank Indonesia.
He said that the acquisition of GEFI, a financial services company well known for its quality products and strong operational aspects, was made to fast track the growth of Bank Permata rapidly expanding business.
“It furthers Permata Bank’s commitment to be an outstanding financial services provider in Indonesia, focusing on consumer and commercial segments,” he said. — JP
