AKARTA: PT Bentoel Internasional Investama Tbk, the fourth largest cigarette manufacturer in Indonesia, is investing Rp 400 billion (US$46.8 million) this year to improve its business, an executive said on Thursday.
The company’s group chief financial officer, Andre Joubert, said that the investment would be used for machinery, factories, marketing and product development.
“A quarter of the total investment was already used in the first quarter, mostly for machinery,” Joubert said at the company’s press conference.
He said that the company was targeting to grow its business in all segments, declining to disclose the details.
“I cannot disclose this year’s targets because I don’t know the future,” Joubert added.
The company would launch the Dunhill Switch brand next week, he added.
Bentoel Internasional Investama, a member of the British American Tobacco Group, has 13 subsidiary companies in Indonesia that produced 23.6 billion cigarettes in 2010, up 14 percent from 2009. — JP
