AKARTA: Very “Ryan” Idham Henyansyah may be on death row for slaughtering 11 people, but he says he plans to marry his sweetheart to fulfill his mother’s dream of having a grandchild.

“The plan to get married is in progress. I am still communicating intensively with my girlfriend,” Ryan said Thursday after his case review hearing at Depok District Court in West Java.

However, Ryan’s mother denied that her son was in a relationship.

“There’s no one. That’s just him talking,” his mother, Siatun, said as reported by tribunnews.com.

Ryan’s father, Ahmad, on the other hand, is worried that his son may lose his current case review.

“Ryan suffers from psychopathic tendencies. He set fire to our house when he was in junior high school,” Ahmad said.

Ryan himself admitted that he had mental problems.

“I am 100 percent a psychopath,” he said.

Ryan’s attorney, Nyoman Rai, added that Ryan should have not been placed on death row because he was mentally ill. However, it was a psychologist who testified during Ryan’s previous trial.

“If a psychiatrist had testified instead, Ryan would definitely not have been given the death sentence,” he said.
