s the result of the stabbing case of Pangudi Luhur student Raafi Aga Winasya Benjamin is awaited, another violent incident took place in Kemang, South Jakarta, this weekend. The victim was 24-year-old Reza Fauzi.

Reza was beat up after he had finished partying at the Tipsy night club at the break of dawn on Saturday. “There were nine of us. Reza wanted to go home first because he had to work,” the victim’s cousin, Dony, said.

Dony said that Reza went home on his motorcycle and that as he drove away, four men on four motorcycles quickly surrounded the victim and beat him up. The incident took place around Jl. Ampera Raya. “His [Reza] head was hit from behind with a bar,” Dony said as quoted by kompas.com.

Dony said that Reza was knocked from his motorcycle due to the blow, with the four men then proceeding to beat him up. Reza suffered bruises on his nose, forehead, back of the head, chin and cheeks.

Reza then called for help to Dony. The latter, together with friends, then took Reza to the nearest police post in Kemang and then to Fatmawati Hospital for treatment.

“I do not want this case to end up like the Raafi case. I want this case to be exposed. I will submit a report on this beating incident,” Dony said while referring to the incident of Raafi, also in Kemang, in which police showed slow progress in finding the real culprit.

The Kemang area is well known for its nightclubs, cafes and comedy clubs, and as an area for the city’s youth to party.

While most people come to Kemang for entertainment, criminal incidents have also been taking place in the area on a regular basis.

Violent incidents are common sights in Kemang’s nightclubs, where emotions can run high due to the influence of alcohol.

Numerous street gangs have also made Kemang their hunting ground. A member of one of the gangs was allegedly involved in the recent stabbing of Raafi.

Raafi lost his life on Nov. 5 after he was stabbed by an unidentified assailant at the Shy Rooftop restaurant in Kemang.

According to information from the Pangudi Luhur advocacy team, Raafi was partying with his school friends when a man provoked the group by pushing his own body against them.

The provocation drove one of the students to throw a cigarette bud on the man’s table, which caused a scuffle on the dance floor.

During the clash, Raafi was said to have felt blood coming from stab wound in his stomach. Raafi’s friends tried to take him to the hospital but medical staff were unable to save his life.
