akarta: The Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX) launched a series of free capital markets training classes on Wednesday.
Twenty-four sessions of the one-day program, dubbed “Stock Market School”, have been scheduled for Jakarta and 18 have been scheduled for Surabaya, East Java.
The classes are free and open to any Indonesian citizen.
“The purpose of the Stock Market School is to educate the people about stock investments,” IDX president director Ito Warsito told the reporters during the opening ceremony of the school at IDX.
With basic training, people can learn about investment alternatives available in the capital markets, such as stocks, bonds and mutual funds, he said.
The training, which has been conducted since 2006, is divided into three levels. The first level is for beginners, while the second and third levels are for those who have already invested in the IDX.
The classes are run in cooperation with PT Kustodian Sentral Efek Indonesia (KSEI) and PT Kliring Penjaminan Efek Indonesia (KPEI).
