akarta: Tata Motors Groups, India’s largest carmaker, is reporting global sales of 101,605 units as of July. The figure, which includes sales of Jaguar Land Rover, was up 21 percent from the first seven months of last year.
The firm’s commercial vehicle division sold 47,776 units of Tata, Tata Daewoo and Tata Hispano Carrocera vehicles in the first seven months of 2012, which was up only 1 percent, while it sold 53,829 units of passenger cars, up 45 percent.
For Jaguar Land Rover, Tata booked a 41 percent increase in volume, selling 26,921 units from January to July, a press release said.
Tata Motors previously announced plans to invest in Indonesia and its intention to build a car manufacturing plant here.
Early this year, India’s media reported that company executives had been looking for a suitable site for the plant, including a site in Karawang, West Java.
Tata is the maker of passenger vehicles Tata Nano, Manza and Aria, beside Jaguar Land Rover.
