SURABAYA: Indonesian Military (TNI) chief Adm
URABAYA: Indonesian Military (TNI) chief Adm. Agus Suhartono said the government would divide the nation’s vast naval territory into three fleet commands pending a revision of Presidential Regulation No. 10/2010.
The Indonesian territory is currently divided into two fleet commands, east and west, each is headed by two-star navy admiral.
“The president has given approval for the presidential regulation but it is still under revision,” Agus told the press after presiding over a handing over ceremony — from outgoing Navy chief of staff Adm. Soeparno to his successor Vice Adm. Marsetio in Surabaya, East Java — on Thursday.
According to the military chief, the huge territory will be divided into three commands: east, central and west. There will be one commander responsible for the security of this vast area, Antara news agency reported.
In addition, Agus said the Indonesian Navy has developed a blue print for the improvement of military equipment and strategy.
