Former Jakarta Police chief dies

ormer Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. (ret.) Firman Gani died following a stroke on Saturday morning. He was 60 years old.

Prior to his death, Firman had been treated at the Pertamina Hospital in Jakarta.

National Police spokesman Insp. Gen. Suhardi Alius said that a wake was held on Jl. Panglima Polim, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta. His remains were buried later in the afternoon at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in South Jakarta.

Firman graduated from the Police Academy in 1974. During his career, he served as police chief for several regional police forces, including East Java, Jakarta, Maluku and South Sulawesi. His last posting was as head of the Police School for Leadership. After retiring, he joined the National Mandate Party (PAN).
