The Jakarta Post has been named as one of the '100 Best Newspapers in Asia', according to a web analytics site.
The Post ranked 65th on the list, compiled by 4imn.com, coming in behind Kompas daily, which took the 19th spot and was the only other Indonesian newspaper to make the top 100.
The People's Daily from China took the top spot, followed by The Times of India, Hürriyet from Turkey, China Daily and Milliyet Gazetesi, also from Turkey.
The rankings measured the popularity of newspapers worldwide using algorithms from three unbiased and independent search engines, namely Google PageRank, Alexa Traffic Rank and Majestic SEO Referring Domains, according to 4imn.com.
The profiling method ranked the popularity of the newspapers in foreign countries and was independent of journalistic effort or reputation, the website said.
4imn.com, based in Sydney, Australia, ranked the newspapers by measuring the number of mentions they received on the Internet, the Internet traffic going to the newspapers' websites and the quality of Internet sources that refer to the websites.
