ndonesia's junior badminton team advanced to the final round of the BWF World Junior Badminton Championships after defeating Thailand 3-2 in Alor Setar, Malaysia.

The final-round ticket was secured after girls' doubles pair Rosyita Eka Putri Sari/Rahayu Apriani won the decisive match against Busanan Ongbumrungpan/Puttita Supajirakul 21-9, 21-13.

Boys' singles player Anthony Sinisuka Ginting opened the way to victory for the national squad by winning over Kantaphon Wangcharoen 21-13, 21-7.

The mixed doubles pair of Muhammad Rian Ardianto/Rosyita Eka Putri Sari followed suit by beating Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Puttita Supajirakul 21-19, 21-19.

Unfortunately, girls' singles Ruseli Hartawan and boys' doubles Clinton Hendrik Kudamasa/Muhammad Rian Ardianto were defeated by Busanan Ongbumrungpan and Dechapol Puavaranukroh/Kittinupong Ketlen, respectively, and failed to help the Indonesian team make a clean sweep.

Separately, Indonesian shuttlers secured six tickets to the quarterfinals of the Singapore Open Super Series 2014.

National mixed doubles pair Tontowi Ahmad/Liliyana Natsir, an All England triple champion, started the winning streak for Indonesia with a 21-12, 21-17 win over Japan's Kenichi Hayakawa/Misaki Matsutomo, followed by Riky Widianto/Richi Dili Puspita, who outplayed Ong Jian Guo/Lee Meng Yean from Malaysia 21-16, 21-15.

In the men's doubles event, world No. 1 pair Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan outscored India's Alwin Francis/Arun Vishnu in a straight game 21-17, 24-22.

Berry Angriawan/Ricky Karanda Suwardi showed a surprising performance after defeating their seniors Angga Pratama/Ryan Agung Saputra 19-21, 21-14, 21-13.

Women's doubles player Nitya Krishinda Maheswari/Greysia Polii also advanced to the quarterfinals after defeating South Korea's Lee So-hee/Shin Seung-chan 21-16, 21-19.

In the men's singles, Simon Santoso ' who was expelled from the national training center earlier this year ' eased past Chinese Taipei's Hsu Jen-hao 21-16, 21-16.

'My opponent is really persistent, so I played patiently. I did not rush in attacking to avoid making mistakes that could benefit my opponent,' Simon said in a statement on Thursday.

Unfortunately, compatriot Dionysius Hayom Rumbaka failed to follow suit after bowing out to Hong Kong's Hu Yun 11-21, 15-21.

Mixed doubles players Gideon Markus Fernaldi/Rizki Amelia Pradipta were also forced to bow out to South Korean Yoo Yeon-seong/Jang Ye-na 13-21, 14-21, while women's singles Adrianti Firdasari was stopped by another South Korean, Ji Hyun-sung, 17-21, 21-18, 12-21.

Riky/Richi, who will play China's Xu Chen/Ma Jin in the quarterfinals, said that they would try to build up confident against the second seed players.

'We will try to learn about their style in a video recording,' said Richi.

The two pairs met previously at the Malaysia Open Super Series Premier earlier this year, which was won by the Xu Chen/Ma Jin.
